Paint Preparation Sanding and Blast Booths
Updated July 2026
A paint preparation booth is a ventilated enclosure for sanding, media blasting, and surface prep that keeps dust and contaminants out of your finishing area. AEI Paint Booths builds industrial paint preparation booths, blast booths, and dust collection and media recovery systems — with personnel lift systems, heated air makeup, conveyors, and pre-treatment — engineered to your workflow and built to meet NFPA 33 and OSHA. Serving manufacturers and refinishers across North America since 2003.
Sanding and Blast Booths
We offer industrial paint preparation booths, blast booths, personnel lift systems,
dust collection, media recovery and more. We will work with you to provide an industrial
finishing system that is integrated in to your overall workflow.
Industrial applications often move work through their facilty with some type of material handling systems. Whether you use 3 axis cranes, overhead conveyor systems, floor rail systems, or any other type of system we will work with you to provide a booth that will fit your process.
Code Compliance
All of our sanding and blast booths are designed to meet or exceed the requirements and recommendations of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Standard Number 33, as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) CFR 29.1910.107.
Supporting Equipment
The blast booth will need
supoorting equipment. It will need a dust collection system, a blast
media recovery system, air replacement system, and blasting equipment
for the operator.
Dust Collection: You will need some type of dust
collection system for your blast booth or sanding booth. The size and
style of your dust collection system will be determined by the size of
the product you are treating. Larger systems will have an outdoor bag
house or cartridge system to collect the dust and move clean air back
to the booth.
Media Recovery Systems: The media recovery
system can be as simple as sweeping up the blasting media on the
floor to automatic systems with augers or conveyor belts. The
automated system are located in the floor of the blast booth. They
move the media to a cleaning system and then to remote hoppers to be
used again.
Blasting Equipment: The blasting equipment will
have an application head to direct the media to the part being
stripped. The media will come from a hopper usually outside of the
building. The hopper can be stand alone or part of a media recovery
system. We can custom design exactly what you need you your unique
application.
Construction
Panels – Flanges Pre-Punched on 6” Centers:
Panels are fabricated from 14-18 gauge prime quality G-90 galvanized
steel. Panels are fastened together with nuts and bolts for maximum
rigidity and ease of assembly. Holes are precision CNC punched on 6”
centers. Pre-punched holes assure true panel alignment. You can assemble
the booth structure yourself or have one of our experienced installation
crews take care of the assembly.
Structural Support:
Beams and columns are fabricated from formed 10 Gauge Galvanized
Steel or W6x9 Steel. Support is pre-punched to match corresponding panels.
Support is placed on maximum 10' centers for added rigidity. Support
columns anchor to a conrete floor with special concrete bolts selected
for your facility concrete.
LED Illumination:
Lighting is provided by 48” long, LED type fixtures. Standard LED
lighting provides low operational cost and low maintenance. The light
fixtures are located throught the booth to provide clean even lighting.
All fixtures are ETL listed and approved for their intended use and
placement. Fixtures are supplied to accept either 120V or 277V power.
5 year limited warranty.
Product Doors:
Product entry doors shall be provided. Options for coil type roll
up doors or standard swing type doors. These doors are provided with
a closed cell foam rubber weather stripping seal about the perimeter
and a neoprene rubber sweep seal at the threshold. The mounting hardware
provided includes a panic type safety latch and four 9'' door pulls.
Doors have a clear opening determined by your large equipment product
requirements.
Personnel Access Doors with Window:
Personnel access doors are provided as a double wall 18-gauge galvanized
steel unit sized at 36'' x 84” and are provided pre-hung in a heavy
gauge steel frame ready for mounting to the spray booth. Mounting hardware
includes a panic type safety latch and two 6'' door pulls.
Exhaust Fans:
Tube axial type duct fans specifically designed and constructed for
use in paint spray booths and similar applications are provided for
exhaust. Bearings are permanently lubricated and mounted in rubber isolators
for smooth operation. The motor, drive and bearings are isolated from
the exhaust air stream. Fan size and motor HP are determined by the
size of the booth, system static pressure, and the required airflow
to meet codes. Electric power - 208/230/460V/3PH/60HZ). Adjustable Drives.
Filtration:
Intake air filters: Rated by UL as Class 2 and are EPA registered
as environmentally safe. Filters are self-supporting in an internal
frame - 20'' x 20'' x 1''. Exhaust air filters are fiberglass paint
arrestor pads made specifically for the collection of paint over spray.
These filters are UL rated as Class 2. A filter holding grid is provided
for each filter cell.
Code Compliance:
All of our large equipment paint booths are designed to meet or exceed
the requirements and recommendations of the National Fire Protection
